CD&R’s Roberto Quarta Discusses Changing Landscape of Private Capital
June 08, 2021
Roberto Quarta, Chairman of CD&R Europe, delivered the keynote at Sahar Global Summits’ inaugural European forum, the 2021 European Private Equity Investor Summit. Interviewed by Cambridge University Endowment Chief Investment Officer Tilly Franklin, Mr. Quarta discussed the evolution of private capital over the last two decades, including the rise of partnership transactions, the emergence of ESG as a potential lever for value creation, and the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Private capital is an industry that re-imagines itself regularly,” said Mr. Quarta. “As the asset class has continued to scale and diversify, we believe one of the most important developments has been the rise of partnership investing structures, which we believe can offer win-win solutions with the potential for greater alignment and transparency.”
Mr. Quarta has been a Partner at CD&R for 20 years and is chairman of CD&R Europe, having played the lead operating role in several of the Firm’s investments. He is chairman of WPP plc and Smith & Nephew plc.
